The late Jimmy Leroy Taylor was a "Chatham-Character". He was highly opinionated, full of spunk, funny & lived happily & very simply. His home had no running water. Rain barrels provided water for bathing. For years he heated with wood in an un-insulated, very old home. For health reasons, he switched to a propane heater for the last 5 or so years of his life. He kept fans running; in the last 5 years of his life, he got a window air conditioning unit. He'd spend his days on his porch reading and watching the squirrels, foxes, deer and other animals. His door was always open.
